Welcome to my blog

Every few years I redesign this website. It is part housecleaning, part update. Here’s what you’ll find when you unpack the contents . . . Faith: As usual, the area of faith is my primary emphasis. And while the immutable truths of Christianity don’t change, society does and occasionally the messaging goes awry. Christians in many cases today seem to have lost their salt and light, their very bearings, following man rather than God. And no wonder, given that there are fundamental incompatibilities between the two. Now more than ever, we need to be faithful to our calling, and obey God rather than man, even though that man may be a demagogue and see himself as chosen by God and exalted. Health: Many of us understand the value of good health, even if it seems out of reach in our lives. Pandemics, endemics, deadly diseases circle the globe, but in the U.S., again the message is conflicted. Wearing masks at the peak of the flu season to avoid infecting others or in order to protect at-risk members of your household is somehow political or unpatriotic to many in our “Golden Age.” Getting immunizations to prevent the spread of future disease is now becoming suspect and ill-advised by people appointed to policymaking positions. My past posts on cancer and aneurysms are among the most popular writings I’ve done, so I hope to continue in this vein. My continuing advice is to trust the wisdom of your personal physician. Current events: As the U.S. (and the world) flirts with fascism even as Armageddon creeps ever more closely, current events loom larger than life. Russia is pressuring Moldova to cede Transnistria to Moscow. The U.S. is demanding that Denmark sell or surrender Greenland to Washington. Events are moving quite rapidly. Minorities in the U.S. such as transexuals are suddenly fair game for persecution. I’ll review the threats to your civil liberties here. More than ever, I want this website to be a “safe space” for all. Nature: Some of the best things in life are free, and I don’t mean FWB. I am fortunate to live in an area of the U.S. where one is surrounded by nature. Deer, bears, and an occasional wayward moose are likely to turn up in your neighborhood when least expected, if not routinely. Geese fly overhead and water and wildlife is plentiful. The leaves of autumn explode in colorful displays. Here, the heat of summer is much more bearable than elsewhere in the U.S. You actually feel the rhythm of life. Science: I love science, and have written about discoveries in artificial intelligence, robotics, astrobiology and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP.) Look for regular posts on these areas. In fact, the italicized terms in rectangular boxes at the end of each post will take you to similar posts elsewhere among the 350 or so that populate my website. Of course, there are many other interests and pursuits in my life, such as travel, history, relationships, philosophy and literature just to name a few. You are equally likely to encounter an article on Plato’s Cave as you are on the Ship of Theseus. Your comments are always welcome, and each post has an option for you to contact me.
